I don't think anyone here is trying to justify terrorism. Terrorism, in all its forms, is hateful, brutal, cowardly and unjustifiable. Insofar as it is possible to stop it, it must be stopped.

But know that terrorists do not kill for just "pleasure and excitement." They have grievances, some legitimate and some not. But blowing up innocent people is not a legitimate way to air those grievances, or to make onself heard.

And sadly, I would have to categorize our government's killing of 100,000+ Iraqis as a form of terrorism, also. That mass killing has hatched an untold number of sworn enemies for decades to come.

The world is a tiny place now -- global leaders must learn to lead their people beyond killing if we are to survive.
