I've been at odds with my Dad for decades, since his fondness for Nixon. It's like he doesn't hear what I'm saying if it's criticism of a Republican - just won't believe me. It's like a football team to him. I get "We're all entitled to our opinion," or just "shut up about it."

My Mom, sweet and kind and smart in most things - I always used to be able to reason with her - but this election, no way could I break through. Dad and I didn't speak for several weeks, and it's still uncomfortable. They're elderly, and my sisters tell me they can't grasp it, but I've wanted to give them credit for being able to reason it out. I just don't want to fight with them, and I had to just let it go. They don't take me seriously, but I love them.
