10. Exactly!
They have won on message - or at least on sound bite. I have dozens of arguments against the Iraq War, the Bush admin., etc. but very few solid, easily digestible sound bites as to why the Democrats are the party of empowerment not entitlement. Blame it on Gingrich, et al., but they have surely won the battle of words on this one. We ARE, in the views of many Red Staters, simply trying to increase the dole and bring in the era of the nanny state while at the same time destroying business and crippling the entrepreneur spirit. Of course this is nonsense, but give me a few good sound bites and let our party nominees repeat them often enough to counteract this highly successful, if unethical, propaganda campaign the Republicans launched against all progressives in 1994.

Great point! I don't know about the social security thing, though, but you, out of ALL the DU posts I have read since 11/2 have nailed the problem. They COULD NOT cheat successfully were we to have the margins our policies should give us were the delivery of our message successful.
