1. In Wisconsin, a close margin was expected
In addition, if you look at Russ Feingold's vote totals, he kicked ass all over Wisconsin -- even the northern conservative counties. He actually did a LOT better than Kerry did.

Reason why? He opposed the Patriot act, and is seen as having a backbone. He's FOR gun control, FOR choice and every other 'liberal' issue you'd care to name. Even with that, he did way better than Kerry did in Wisconsin.
