And John Kerry and John Edwards should be shouting this from the rooftops- if anything (well, with the exception of mad cow disease) this is sparkling proof that the Bush junta has not made us any safer.

People laughed at the Ford administration's "swine flu" vaccine program, but at least they were considering a potential threat, and responding to it, because what every public health official knows, is that the 1918 influenza pandemic could happen again at any time.

Last time, with a much smaller populaiton, 550,000 Americans were killed, which makes September 11 look like,...look like something better than the annual number of people who get killed by food poisoning (about 5,000).
