First though, the Baucus bill might as well be out of committee. We're probably talking hours here
As for mandates, what I meant (and should have written), was "Private Insurance Mandates." Since the other bills offer public options, there is no private insurance mandate. A mandate with a PO is not (IMO) too controversial. A mandate without a PO is a mandate for corporate servitude. Nonetheless, you were right to call that out. The way I worded it was wrong, and I appreciate the correction. I was livid when I typed it up, and should have taken a deep breath first. :)
All that being said, I fully stand by the context of what I wrote, with minor content corrections as you indicated. Every Dem I see on TV - other than Howard Dean - accepts the meme that the PO is dead in the Senate. When ever a talking head says "Well how do you feel now that the PO is dead?" You don't hear "The PO is alive in the Senate," with explanation. You hear stammering and "Lets not forget the real issue here-blahbady blah blah"
If there are others saying it's alive and kicking, please call them out here, and I suggest every one write them a letter of thanks.
