Bittersweet tears are rolling down the face of this ol' 60s hippiechick as I read and re-read your post. As someone who lived through the 60s assassinations, the riots, the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, the draft, VietNam--all of those memories have bubbled to the surface during this campaign, and I am easiily moved to tears. The reference to To Kill a Mockingbird put me over the edge. That movie and Mississippi Burning are my all-time favorite movies about civil & human rights, and activism and our responsibility to right the wrongs of this nation.
