a guy who still thinks there are WMDs in Iraq, attacking anyone on the issue of national security? One would think that his credibility on the topic is in desperate need of burnishing, before he could be considered an effective attack dog.

This guy is widely seen to be the "mastermind" behind a foreign policy that led the U.S. to invade another nation on false pretenses, and a policy that has seen our credibility with our allies around the world erode to historic lows. It's like they are leading with their chin.
