Centrist Democrats have chosen Clinton to lead the American Dream Initiative

Bruce Reed, President of the DLC, Domestic Policy Council under Bill Clinton, tries to explain that Clinton is not a liberal:

"She's been involved in the DLC a couple of decades now...so she was a natural choice..."

NPR: "But doesn't she have a reputation for being on the liberal end of the party?"

"I wouldn't say that, I've known her for fifteen years... she's a Clinton democrat from the get go ... she's always been quite culturally conservative, I worked with her on Welfare reform ... reforming the child welfare reform system ... she's a natural for this... she's been a good friend to us (the DLC) for many, many years..."
