How can anyone make such an assumption about a huge chunk of the Democratic Party? It seems those who don't support Obama believe those of us who do are walking around in some sort of trance, brainwashed by Obama's awesome oratory skills. ;)

I would tell anyone that before choosing a candidate to support, they need to proactively inform themselves. READ. Obama's positions on all the issues are out there for the taking - the information is out there for all the Democratic candidates for that matter. The simple truth is that when it comes to policy issues they are all very similar.

When I made the decision to support Obama, I took into account what makes him different - his positive message, and yes, his oratory skills. Why do some think giving a great speech is a detriment? It certainly wasn't for Bill Clinton. The American people need to hear positive messages and need to have a reason to work together. Obama does not stand behind the podium and tell us for an hour what he can do for us. He tells us we can all do it together.

We can't expect any of these candidates to go to Washington and make sweeping policy changes; we can't expect any of them to wave a magic wand and fix the gigantic mountain of mess Bush created. Hillary wants us to believe she can "from Day 1" and it simply won't happen. What Obama has the chance to do however, is engage the American people in pushing their elected officials to make decisions in their best interest, to motivate people to engage the government in a way that will cause real change. Many of these people are our younger generation and many are older and have never been politically active before.

We all know real change comes from the bottom, not from the top and we all know it won't be a quick fix.

Obama is not a demagogue, he is not our savior. He does seem to transcend party lines and speak to all of us as Americans; he has an intangible quality that is very rare in a leader. Remember - the President of the United States represents all of us, not just those of one political party. That's exactly what this country needs right now. It needs to move beyond the divisiveness that has gripped us for so long and move forward.
