I don't follow your reasoning at all. If someone tries to kill you with a knife (or a stone in this case), and you have an automatic weapon. There's nothing wrong with defending yourself. Overwhelming force is a good defense.

Are you arguing that our forces in Afghanistan shouldn't have automatic weapons and body armor? Maybe we shouldn't give them good communications sytems. That way the Taliban and Al-Qaeda can kill a more equal number of our soldiers.

This type of "logic" is anything but.
