9. israeli troops in west bank
there are israeli troops in the west bank because in 1967 there was a war. at the time the west bank was occupied/annexed by jordan. israel fought the combined strength of jordan, egypt and syria.

jordan did not give up its claim to the west bank until 1988.

what was israel supposed to do after the war in 1967? there was no palestinian government (because the jordanians and egyptians wouldnt allow it). there was still a state of war between jordan and israel (with an armistice in place, but still a technical state of war).

so pray tell, what was israel supposed to do immediately after the 1967 6 day war?
