I read of a police officer recently who shot himself TWICE while reholstering with his finger on the trigger. After he shot himself the first time, he got really flustered and tried to jam the gun in the holster so he could attend to his leg wound. His finger was still on the trigger, and fired the gun again...

The proper reholstering technique, of course, is finger OFF the trigger and OUTSIDE THE TRIGGER GUARD when reholstering. And keep the gun pointed in a safe direction; it should be pointing at the floor when reholstering, not at you...

And stuffing a gun in your waistband is even worse...
