Do you think that the despots of the world would have cancelled their plans if the AK47 had not been invented?

When I need clean cutlery I take whatever is left in the drawer. I don’t let the fact that I haven’t run the dishwasher in a week stop me from eating. In the same way, the power hungry will use whatever tools are available to them. The Hutus didn’t need AKs to massacre Tutsis; they used machetes.

Intent to harm or to oppress is a much bigger factor than the method or the tool used.

The same AK that was used to cause so much sorrow in some parts of the world was also used by freedom fighters in South Africa to help break the corrupt and immoral racist regime. It isn’t the tool that matters, but how, why and when you use it.

There is no question that war is hell, but the AK isn't evil. Rather, it is one of the most significant equalizers in history. The Afghans used captured AKs against the Russians to great effect. How ironic is that?
