6. The drinking issue is a bit of a red herring here:
firearms are already present in the places where most of the drinking occurs, and the bloodshed doesn't even rate as a trickle;

the people covered by these laws can already carry off-campus, and they're not noticeably implicated in irresponsible behavior, alcohol-related or otherwise;

the CCW proposals don't grant any new permissions to underage persons, on- or off-campus;

the rate of drinking on campus can't be used to draw conclusions about individual students drinking behavior;

carrying while intoxicated is already illegal in most places (AFAIK), and the self-selected people who obtain CCW permits are well-aware of that.


Nobody disagrees that guns and alcohol are a lethal combination - the unsupported assumption is that these campus CCW proposals are actually related to that combination...
