15. It's already broken, the question is whether we should try to fix it or not
Many suggest that we should sit back and let "Nature" fix things for us. Well, that's fine, if you don't mind the fact that Nature's "fix" might include massive die-offs (including us.)

We've demonstrated that we're able to dramatically affect the ecosystem without even trying to do so. We've also demonstrated that at times, by making a conscious effort, we can have a positive effect (say, bringing an endangered species or two back, or restoring a wetland.)

Personally, I'm highly skeptical of any "quick fixes" like dumping lots of iron into the ocean.

However, let's say we try to fix things, and fail. What's the worst case scenario? (We all die?) I think that may also be the case if we don't try to fix things.

In geologic history, "Nature" has taken on the order of 100,000 years to lower GHG's; starting at lower levels then they're at today.

How long are you willing to wait for "Nature" to fix it this time?
