I looked at the map that NRDC has re: mercury levels in your area. I live on LI, NY. It looks real high here. My oldest son was born with a defect: tracheal stenosis. He had corrective surgery that was a success thank God. I call him my miracle because if he were born just years before, the failure rate of the surgery was very high. They don't know what causes the defect, they don't believe it's something genetic/hereditary. In my mind, I still wonder what the hell caused this. Who knows.
What corporations do, and society doesn't do, has a hand in all of our lives and those we love. Education/awareness is the key to change. I'll share your story if you'll let me, along with all your wonderful information you have provided. It's all I CAN do, I'm just one person. But that's how things have a chance of changing, one person at a time, until we are a very large bunch... impossible to ignore.
My best to you and your family.
