South Carolina holds its primary in just under 90 days. From the Official Blog:

This weekend supporters from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama will be canvassing across the state, spreading the message of this people-powered campaign. If you're in South Carolina or anywhere in the Southeast, come out and Canvass for Carolina.

In other SC news, Dean For America has hired a deputy state director and is in the process of hiring a director. Shortly we will open offices in Columbia and Charleston.

Dean supporters had Meetups last night in Anderson, Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Greenville, Greenwood, Myrtle Beach, and Sumter.

Howard Dean's field organization is on-the-ground and operating in more states than any other Democratic candidate.

(On edit: Corrected typo. Also this additional information...)

Dean named his South Carolina campaign chairperson this past January: State Representative David Mack III. (Announcement details here.) Dean has also advertised in the state. As of several months ago, Dean was reported to have raised more contributions (and small donor ones at that) from South Carolina than any other Democrat aside from nearby favorite John Edwards. (That was before the 3rd quarter, though. I haven't found the 3rd quarter numbers on that.) Although there's little recent polling, Dean appears to be tied for second in South Carolina and gaining momentum, despite the intense and repeated visits from rivals. Pros consider South Carolina a must-win state for at least three Democratic candidates: John Edwards, Wesley Clark, and Joe Lieberman. A Dean win the state would be a tremendous upset.

For more information on Dean's South Carolina efforts visit Dean for America - South Carolina Index.
