8. The important thing to for her and the team to remember is
that she CAN throw long, not that she HAS too. Sometimes the threat is worth more than the throw itself. It puts the defenders into a situation where other opportunities open up.

Example: if you can throw long, you can throw fast and flat. I used to get my forwards to leave as much space open on my side as possible by going to the back post. Then I'd have a midfielder or defender arrive late into the near corner of the penalty box, where, if all has went well, he would have a good chance of getting onto a flat, fast throw and then get a shot or a very close-in cross or pass. Of course, the defence will catch onto it and put a defender in the right place, but if you then go for a long throw, (s)he becomes fairly irrelevant and wasted in that position.
