7. It was very hard to get hold of books. Buffalo & Erie County had an
excellent library system, but I'm unsure if there was a central catalog of all the holdings of all the branches. If you couldn't find a book at the library, you had to go to a bookstore. There they took out a massive volume called Books in Print which had numerous supplements. You had to contact the publisher to find the book. If it wasn't in this Books in Print, was it in that one that was 6 months older?

I didn't drive then and lived in the suburbs. I don't remember a proper bookstore at all, just a counter at the local office supply store. That, and the text book store across from the university.
