my ex. That and her ex pawning her off on me so he could go skiing with his girlfriend to make a connection. I never intended to start a long term relationship, it just happened. I guess that's why we only lasted 29 years.
I don't doubt that starting a relationship may be based on such superficial reasons, but maintaining the relationship, from personal experience, takes much more than that.
In my case we were extreme opposites as far as interests and personality. She was the extrovert, I was the introvert. She was the jock, I was the geek. Our commonality was our caring and progressive view of the world. If we had remained the same people, that relationship would still be as strong. Unfortunately the pressures of life drove us to view the world from different perspectives.
I'd still do anything for her and probably will to the day I die. I may have more loves in my life but I'll only ever have one wife.
