6. I have a gender-neutral name
Growing up, I wasn't happy with it because all the famous people with the same name were men and I felt the name was boyish. It also bugged me because people were always trying to lengthen it. Eventually, I came to accept and love my name and am glad that it is relatively unique.

I discovered the fun of having a gender neutral name in high school. In my sophomore year, I took the Army Aptitude test. I checked the 'female" box. When I got the results, the Army determined I would make an excellent secretary, teacher or nurse. In my senior year I took the test again but checked the "male" box on the form. For some strange reason, the Army suddenly decided I was brilliant and would have a great future as a scientist, engineer or even a pilot!
