I've personally was stunned by how many ranked teams were playing against each other the first week. Perhaps this is just perception, but I don't recall that happening a lot. OU, for example, usually plays someone like North Texas.

Give how the deals are made for these games, no one could have predicted this, so it's somewhat accidental. But, it has resulted in a lot more parity among early season games.

This has been one of the better first weeks in my memory, even if OU is sucking out loud at the moment.

Oh, I should be fair. The defense is holding their own. The questions about the o-line have been answered, I think, and are negative. The offense is anemic because of it, and with the addition of a BYU team with a good offense, it's made for an equitable game.
