19. I fell into mine.
I was working in one field, and got totally fed up with it.

Took a temp job, doing maintenance on ATM machines, which is about as far from my previous job (and my current job) as you can get.

Was looking through the paper one day, and saw a two-line ad for a vocational rehabilitation counselor. What appealed to me was the pay, which was way more than I had made previously.

I applied for, and got, the job.

That was almost 19 years ago.

Sometimes, I go through burn-out periods, as most of us in this field do, but I always come out of it, and keep on keepin' on.

One interesting thing: when I first went back to college, I was a rehab major. Then I changed to psych. And here I am, working in voc rehab. :)
