12. It's a goddamn large burden, and one that I've carried more than once, but it is your
responsibility to let your loyal and true friend go when it gets to the point that he's not enjoying life any more. He's looking up to you as he always has, and counting on you to let him go easy if it's his time to go.

Damn hard to step up to that plate, it is. I really, and I mean REALLY hope you don't have to make that decision right now, or any time soon.

But if you do have to, remember this: He'll wait on the beach as long as he has to, until you join him there. And he'll forget how long that wait was, the instant he sees you walking toward him on the sand.
