14. Thanks for the update and a couple of points
I wouldn't worry about the kidney thing unless her temperature really spikes. As it is at a tolerable level she should be okay. Hopefully additional fluids should lower those levels as well.
Now about her blood counts. I have a chronic blood disorder related to leukemia. I sometimes take a chemotherapeutic agent to control an overabundance of platelets. At times some of my blood counts have been very low (I think at one point my neutrophils were almost ZERO) and I have felt perfectlly normal and walked and worked. Its also possible since her immune system is suppressed because of the chemo that her numbers aren't going to get too high anyway, and that its possible that they dropped some because her infection is getting better?
From what I know from your post I think you should be encouraged. And while I approve of people educating themselves reading about the various possibilities of her infection on the internet might not be the best thing for you right now, mentally.
Cheers and good wishes to your family.
BTW, if you want to ask a biology question feel free to PM me, and while not a doctor I have worked some in immunology and would be happy to either answer you directly or find a good answer.
