The KichenWitch I have observed ...and I have only observed her here in the lounge, is eldest sister to that lounge with the rest being younger siblings or cousins. I almost said lounge mother but that job is being filled nicely by CP.... this is about you not her so I'll move on.

When I first came to the lounge, like most firstimers I ghosted through to see what was up. Not a peep outa chknltl for near a month was heard here. It was obvious that there was a warm welcoming yet snarky flavor to the lounge. It was equally obvious that disruptors were not welcome...(sort of like bringing a boom-box into a church, the culprit would be shown the door with haste). This was the flavor that was the lounge then. (It has changed a bit but i'll get to that later)

What causes that flavor? Flavor is not the best word so let's call it "lounge personality" instead.
Well it is caused by the combination of all who post here. Those who do the most posting have the strongest contribution to that personality. Those who post the least, naturally have little impact on it. I am sure that as folks come and go here that personality changes. A key aspect of this conglomerate personality is that it almost takes on a life of it's own. It attracts those who favor it and repels those who are uncomfortable in it's presence...see how that works!

This brings us back to KitchenWitch. One can easily see that you bring warmth, compassion and snark. This is not to say that these items are not brought by others too, but you post an awful lot...your contributions of these three aspects here have the stronger impact on that lounge personality.

Have you ever noticed how the lounge seems to attract folks who stop by, for awhile seeking pity or sympathy or are just plain distraught and need SOMETHING? Of course, you are not always there for them but often enough you are. When you are not, someone else here is...a lot of someones generally.
This is because of that lounge personality. Like attracts like! Your strong presence here has attracted others here who have those same traits. See how that works? Do you see how you have influenced the lounge personality now? I am not trying to use flattery or insult, this is just my own observation.

GD has its own flavor, it is harsh and no place for the timid. It has its sharks who circle looking for the weak, looking to bully, there is a lot of insecurity over there. The lounge has none of this, it would NOT be tolerated here. The lounge is like an open, fun party in a sunny meadow.

There is another aspect that you bring to the lounge. I called you the elder sister for a reason.
An elder sister is not afraid to take control of a situation should it get out of hand. Again I am not saying that you specifically are quick to do this, but because you are here, because you contribute this aspect of yourself to the lounge personality others are here now who will react rapidly to resolve the situation. Let me provide an example, one which illustrates what I am talking about here:

If someone for whatever reason were to attempt a flame war with CP here in the lounge what would happen? Exactly! This is not to say that CP can not handle herself but you know for a fact that the lounge would immediately pounce on this rascal and show him or her the door but not without first taking a few chunks out of their hide. If you were here then, you would be the one leading the charge. Sure we would all be here to rally around CP but you would easily be in the executive position here...there is none of us who would get in your way... see, you are indeed the elder sister!

Now imagine if CP got into that same flame war over in GD... whole different personality over there and it is hardly likely that she would see the same support. Well unless one of us saw and reported back here and...yep, you'd be the one leading the charge again!

I have not read any of the other posts in your thread before mine, I wanted to say these things unjaded...I am sure you have gotten a whole lot of favorable responses here...well you have earned them! I often feel like the "empath" in the first Star Trek series, the show was titled "Empath" (of course). I sense stuff like this, we all do but I am not afraid to say what I feel or observe.
Thank you for what you contribute to the lounge personality.

Finally, there are two who were here when I started who strongly contributed to the lounge personality also. One is gone but another seems to be filling his shoes now so that aspect has not changed. The other hardly posts here and that HAS made an impact. She knows who she is already and I have spoken to her about this very thing...I miss what she brought to the table. I sense that her absence has brought a bit of rowdiness to the lounge personality...well change is inevitable I guess, but I look forward to her return.
