54. it's not the acid
that made for bad trips, it was the crud the acid was placed on. isla vista in '66 the acid was dropped on tabs of speed. big fat tabs of speedy crap that raced thru the bloodstream and put nerves on edge, then the acid came on with a sudden warmth that invariably jangled up against that speedy background. went to a timothy leary "lecture" on acid once, then ate a mcdonald's double cheeseburger that was the most delicious food i'd eaten. only once did the acid come without contaminants and that was incredibly relaxing. then there was the night before a final exam this woman i'd known in high school out of the blue asked if i wanted to drop a tab with her...

peyote is a better trip if you can stomach the taste.

it can be dangerous as noted. a classmate died in mexico during xmas break after dropping acid. something fried the brains of several "hippie" types--homeless runaways basically-- and made the girls prey for other "hippie" scum. that was disgusting. probably was not just acid that killed those kids' spirits.

if it grows in the earth it's ok by me, 'cept for the time this rural farmer handed me a full-grown opium poppy while i was manicuring some of the local weed. but that's for another day.
