12. No matter where you are in IT
the mistakes you make affect a lot of people. But people at all levels make mistakes. I did some work on a database without realizing people were using it and I messed up 2 days worth of work for 10-15 people. But my manager once took a database down for 6 hours that all 2500 people in the company were using. He still has a job and I don't.

Its good to take responsibility for the mistakes you've made, but the people you work with have to get over it too.

Employers can get rid of you if they don't like the way you part your hair these days.
