41. In the days of Bud Grant, coaches had more control
and the players made a lot less money. It's pretty hard for a coach to intimidate a guy who makes $6 million a year. You can't pay that kind of cash for a player and stand him on the sidelines. In Bud's day players had off-season jobs to make ends meet. Times have changed and coaches don't have near as much control of players away from the game. And you can't cut 10 or 15 guys in the middle of the season and put out a scrub team. I suspect the NFL brass would very much frown on that.

Players on the mid-90s Cowboys did the same kind of crap, only behind closed doors. I am NOT excusing the imbecilic and classless behavior of the Viking players, but to think that this kind of thing doesn't go on elsewhere is naive.

Tice is a dead man walking. Zygi will clean house at the end of the year and you will see a whole new coaching staff and a substantial turnover in personnel. Unlike McCombs, Wilf will bite the bullet and spend the cash.
