Not every Ferrari is a sports car, they also made and make many GTs that are some of their most popular models. Classically - I'd agree with your description save for the weight.

Older sports cars were featherweights compared to today's cars which are so heavy due to federally mandated safety technology, some of which is a good idea and some of which is there to keep other makers out of our market.

Back in the 50's, 60's and much of the 70's 2000 pounds was considered heavy for a true sports car. There are precious few vehicles these days that low weight, the Lotus Elise is one. Not surprisingly, it does very well with just 190 horsepower. Even a new Mini can top 2700-2800 pounds with the right options.

Lol am I taking this too seriously or what? I am just a hopeless gearhead.
