46. Obviously I don't know for sure
but isn't UMC a fairly large place with lots of support personnel? Social service people, patient advocates? JMHO but it might be worth it to have someone outside the medical realm, with occupational therapy/ADL (activities of daily living) expertise to maybe take a look and see what their recommendation would be? I don't even know if that exists, frankly, and all of my nursing experience is way out of date and limited to other than cardiac care, and I really only worked in a military facility. But we would NEVER have sent someone home - or even to rehab - who wasn't completely physically stable, it's just wrong on so many levels, and MFM's experience proves the point. I know that the current trend in medicine is to discharge patients early and shuffle beds, but -- no, what's happened to him is wrong and has endangered his health and well-being, IMO. This seriously pisses me off and I would like to think that there is a patient advocate somewhere at that hospital who would care enough to get involved.
