My sister, a therapist, worked in a geriatric/psychiatric unit of a hospital years ago. She told me a few stories... On several occasions a family member would threaten to contact the media...Someone once said she was going to contact the local TV investigative team regarding her mother's treatment. These types of threats immediately went directly to the president of the hospital, and things turned really fast. The hospital bent over backward to accommodate as they didn't want negative PR.....

I don't know hospital regulations. Can he refuse to sign the discharge papers...that is, if a patient's signature is required?
