The Beatles and Oasis are alike in that sense.

You don't think the Beatles were plundering themselves? What about the influence of early American rock and its country and blues elements? This shows up most clearly on Let It Be. Check out "One After 909":

Lennon's sound experiments were also influenced by Stockhausen, another "plundering."
