Is it okay to use a laser pointer to f*ck with your cat's head?

My wife came home with one of those little laser pointers used in presentations. Our son first used it on the cats...they freakin' loved it. Total focus...hunting, stalking, crazy-ass behavior, determined to catch that damned red dot. Even after we'd turn it off, they'd still hunt for the red dot for another ten or fifteen minutes. It seems harmless enough. Right?

It sure is entertaining...like having a real live remote control animal! They'll follow that red dot ANYWHERE! But they seem so disappointed when I finally have to turn it off because I'm laughing so hard I've gotta go pee.
