Or rather, it does not have exclusively to do with income. I don't know how you could have gotten that out of my post. Please re read it.

Expand your experience in that one mexican neighborhood to the entire country. Hispanics make up 12% of the population. They are different than 88% of the United States. They can't just pack up and move to another area where things will be better. Everywhere they go, they will be different.

You might never understand, and that's fine. Maybe you can't understand unless you live it. I don't know how to make it any clearer for you. It's not about the wealth you have.

It's about this: You have a hard time in your life. But a minority in your exact same situation has a harder time based on the color of his skin. A gay man in your position has a harder time because of his sexual orientation. Why? They could be exactly the same as you, right now, down to the penny. They could possess the same skills, the same education...everything. Yet, the gay man can't marry and the minority has a lesser chance of getting the same job, the same loan, the same house. THAT is privilege.
