12. I play a 1969 SG Custom
I have long felt that Fender guitars are fundamentally different instruments from Gibsons. (And I lump most other brands-- Gretsch, Guild, Rickenbacker, etc-- in with Gibsons.)

The determining factor seems to be string tension, which is a product of scale length and neck rigidity. The Fender instrument lends itself to a more flexible style, with a lot of warping of both pitch and timbre.

None of which I can do very well. The best I can get is a pastiche of Jorma Kaukonen's finger vibrato, on good days. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Gibson guy. (I play a Ric too.)
