Flooding in NEPA
Advertisements [?]
Hello everyone! We are still feeling the remnants of Ivan in PA. I live along the Susquehanna River. My house sits up high enough that we won't be flooded but for some of the surrounding communities not protected by the dike system it is going to be a long night. We took a drive today around the area and this afternoon many were already faced with rushing water up to their doorsteps other were already under water. The crest for Wilkes-Barre is expected at around 12 mid to 1am. Some beautiful Victorian homes are threaten in West Pittston. The power of the river is amazing. Thousands of pumpkins from farmland farther up the river are washing down stream. At first we thought they were balls until we got up closer to the river and say the number of them. Alot of other veggies too! We say tomatoes, & peppers along with trailers, refrigerators even a tractor trailer. All bridges across the river are closed at this point. The wildlife is now coming up to our yards. Saw alot of deer, squirrels, groundhogs and muskrats. The worst were the huge river rats. My daughter was out saving some toads!

Good luck to everybody experiencing problems. Can't imagine the devastation down south.
