Student Holds "Auditions" For Date To Senior Prom (Judges To Decide Date)

He strolled through the Nevada Union High School quad Wednesday, peering at all the long-legged beauties through his retro-cool aviator sunglasses.

He didn't exactly part the throng of students, but Drew Bailey pulled in plenty of stares, both from the young women leery of what one student called a publicity stunt and from those who might actually try for an evening with a man seemingly driven to prove he's the school's most eligible prom date.

In recent days, Nevada Union has been speckled with fliers promoting Bailey's plan to hold open auditions - "all classes welcome" - for a date to the May 15 senior ball.

This morning, Bailey will assemble a panel of "judges" who will ask such probing questions as, "Do you prefer sourdough or French bread?" to determine the winner of an all-expense-paid trip to the prom.
