I did some research to counteract the inflamatory thread recently posted about Wesley Clark and the School of Americas.

First of all the school is CLOSED.

Secondly, It was an army school, yes, Wesley Clark was in the Army.

Thirdly, He was A US Southern Commander so as a part of his duties he spoke @ the graduation. So because he spoke at a graduation as a part of his duties for a brief moment he is now an active member of Latin American Death Squads?

That school operated under Democratic and Republican administrations. The school I'm sure has had many Republican and Democratic Army Commanders speak at Graduations and other functions. Maybe some of those are Govenors, Mayors, and/or Senate or House of Representaives right now.

The School of the Americas originated at Fort Amador in 1946 as the Latin American Training Center - Ground Division. Four years later it was renamed the U.S. Army Caribbean School and transferred across the isthmus to Fort Gulick, where Spanish became the official academic language.

In July 1963, the school was redesignated the U.S. Army School of the Americas, to more accurately reflect its hemispheric orientation. Under the provisions of the 1977 Panama Canal Treaty, USARSA was relocated to Fort Benning, Georgia, in October 1984 and designated an official U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command school.

Please don't post inflamatory remarks without doing research.
