This country has seen too many Gene Autry and Roy Roger movies
to be fooled for very long. Yes, we know all about the crooks that wear the black hats and the good guys that wear the white hats. And if that's a little before your time, try viewing, "Blazing Saddles", A more modern way to tell the story.

Woodward is so into unrestrained gratification that he didn't hear the loud shots & the shouts. "Head 'em off at the pass boys" - Fitz is riding hard on his horse, named Swift. Swift is a slow starting mare, but once up to full speed she'll blow the white hat right off Fitz's coconut.

Blazing Saddles sez is best.
