equally sorry that the "relief effort" was horrid. I live in Texas and I thought, intuitively, that the people left in NO were victims of the man-made disaster of a response that followed the hurricane. You validate that for me in these three sentences.

"If the relief organizations had saturated the City with food and water in the first 2 or 3 days, the desperation, the frustration and the ugliness would not have set in."

"They explained that a large section of their unit was in Iraq and that meant they were shorthanded and were unable to complete all the tasks they were assigned."

"Throughout, the official relief effort was callous, inept, and racist. There was more suffering than need be. Lives were lost that did not need to be lost."

It is pathetic and outrageous that our Government was not there immediately after the storm passed to take care of Americans. Actually, it's pathetic that they allowed this to happen to New Orleans. Bush is a disgrace now, more than ever.

After posting, I see that this is an account from someone else. I answered as if speaking to the person, maybe your wife can share my comments?
