and Bush in particular. His stature in the US has already declined a great deal; he's seen as ineffective on Social Security, energy, Iraq, stem cell research, and just about every issue other than terrorism. If a series of soft-target attacks took place in the US--and it's just a matter of time before they do--my sense is that Bush's remaining time as President would be very difficult, indeed.
