Why now??
1) body count -- if it bleeds, it leads. MSM is still in the $$ business, even if that means sacrificing one of their own -- hyena will be hyena

2) Bushies have so few 'righteous indignation' moments, they gotta push 'em when they see 'em -- what I wonder is when a few dead 'ayrabs' meant so much to them.

3) There is a difference in sourcing -- 'Newsweak' source is US Gov't official -- previous reports were self-reports from detainees or their reps.

4) Don't want the public concerned about judicial nominees now do we??

5) War memo from the UK -- what memo from the UK?

6) Maybe this info. was a plant?? Think maybe they were ready to respond with their indignation? Again, dead 'ayrabs' to these folks are a good thing, and even better if you can score political points while killing 'em.
