29. Oh man, it wasn't that bad.
I went there in the 1970s and we had to wear a coat over our shorts to walk across campus to go to the gym and I thought that was ridiculous. Actually the rules were a real source of derision and amusement among the students. We all thought they were just stupid. However, it makes all the breaking of the rules much more fun. We had a taped recording of bells that would ring out at 8:00 AM. We slipped in a Black Sabbath tape and had that blast out once. We dropped a live chicken on the speaker in chapel (chicken was not hurt). Lots of stuff like that. So all in all I had a pretty good time there. Of course I am very far left (my politics always were) but I have found the fundamentalist bent of the church much too right wing for me. My husband and I noticed that there are quite a number of us that came out of that school and are quite liberal. Of course there are plenty that stayed fundie.
