2. The type of touchy feely liberalism they hate died before that...
I think it died when the repubs took back control of congress in 1994. That type of PC (I hate that term but it is appropriate in this discussion) liberals had a brief hayday between clinton getting elected in '92 until '94 when the angry male took over again. By '98 that type of liberalism had long been a dead horse that they still love to beat.

Unfortunately they are not the only ones and are indicative of the way a lot of people in this country still feel.
