Sibel is walking a fine, dangerous line here, and I am amazed at her courage and committment.
It is my understanding that she is gagged with respect to this information. But she must feel that the information is so important as to risk the wrath of the Justice Department. And she is doing it alone. The Commissioners and Congressmen who know her story and who have some political clout/defense didn't come forth with information. The information wasn't leaked confidentially.
Sibel signed her name to the letter, crawling out of the foxhole and into the line of fire. No one with power is providing cover that I can see. People from both sides of the aisle and at all levels of government should be helping her, coming forward with their opinions of how this should go down, backing up her story, or trying to determine exactly why she is gagged.
Regarding the letter, she seems to have found a way to include sensitive information insde her main point -- to critique the 9/11 Commission. Hopefully, she's provided enough gray area to avoid prosecution.
If the media is still capable of actually reporting and following up on a real story, ramifications of this letter COULD be far reaching:
9/11 Commission looks bad here. The report will be seen by more people to lack credibility. More people will be awakened to the political nature of the report.
If Commissioners include her information, a more effective set of recommendations to stengthen intelligence may result
Another hole in the dike. The number of BA disasters and questions increases every day.
Others will be inspired by Sibel's courage and will come forward with corroborative information and maybe new information. I hope Tenet is paying attention.
Those resposible for FUBAR'd translation program will go down in flames. A better program may result.
There appears to be very interesting evidence about who was involved in 9/11. This is not the point of the letter, but promises to be the main point of future testimony.
John Ashcroft has another serious problem here.
CBS may finally air its interview from weeks ago with Sibel.
This is important information that has been lurking around for a while. Seems like Sible has decided to take a leap of faith that the Constitution, congressmen who find some intestinal fortitude, and maybe even the press will take a stand with her before the election, so that we may have the information we need to protect our country and so that we can make an informed choice in November. I don't see much upside for her except for that.
She clearly will need some help.
Thank you Sibel.
