Your several postings about this on DU are absolutely admirable. I agree that this is probably the darkest and ugliest part of this war. I feel helpless.

I've looked for the report that UNICEF has apparently compiled on its website about this, but there is no reference to it whatsoever. I understand that groups like UNICEF intentionally keep these reports private and try to work with governments behind the scenes, in order not to ruffle any political feathers. Chances are, we'll never see the official report.

What can we do? Should we be contacting children's rights organizations? What about the ACLU? I know it would produce no results, but what about imploring several human rights organizations to file a Freedom Of Information Act request to get the video tapes or any documentation referring to the incarceration of these civilian children? Of course they're going to be the most highly classified documents at the Pentagon. But the publicity over such a request would be enough. Is that an absurd notion? I wish there was something I could do other than read these many posts on DU about this horrible situation.
