This fresh horror I found while looking for it was news to me, even though it's from 1999. Why weren't we told about this? Mass media, I'm lookin' at you...

George W. But Woodward never attributes this quote to Bush. Instead, he records it as being said by an unindentified CIA or Special Forces trooper at a 9/11 memorial they’ve built in the Afghan mountains during the first mission into Afghanistan.

Depending on what the TRUTH is this seems to be a prime example of the dangers of the common practice of quoting "quotes" from the internet. There are dozens of blogs and sites with this possibly bogus Bush attribution out there and it seems likely they are all re-quoting someone who was just making trouble.(A crime I was myself guilty of in this reply, come to think of it, since I re-quoted a re-quote of a bum quote. But at least I kept looking.)
