130. As your southern liberal next door neighbor in GA - I applaud you!

Southern bashing is a bit of a sport. I get pretty sick of it myself. We're prejudged based on where we live - that's prejudice folks. I was born and raised in Atlanta. I love my city, and I love the beauty of my state, even though I don't care one wit for the political climate. I say y'all, eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches (with mayonnaise), eat boiled peanuts, and nothing beats my mama's cracklin cornbread. I love the rhythm of southern life, and the lilt of a true southern accent. I treasure spending days fishing at the lake and evenings sitting on the porch watching the lightning bugs . Yes, we have some bad things in our culture's history, but we also have some beauty. Believe it or not, the south is in itself a melting pot of different cultures and traditions. You can't paint us with a broad stoke of the brush. My husband's people in the low country of South Carolina are as different from my mom's folks from Alabama as someone from New York is from someone in Iowa. But what we do have in common is that it doesn't matter which southern state you are from, people think they already know ALL about you before you open your mouth good.
